Hayden Read - Fuquay-Varina High School, Fuquay-Varina, NC - WR - Class of 2012

I know he's met with a coach at least twice -- once at the high school, and once in Charlotte.

Hayden Read - WR - Class of 2012

Rivals have FINALLY added us to the school list for football, so now we can search on recruits using Charlotte as the school in the search criteria.

I sent them a kind of heated email a couple weeks ago letting them know that I thought it was pretty ridiculous that we had not been added, and our announcement of a football program was years ago.  It is a simple change, that took years for them to make.
The Things I Would Always Like To See From 49ers Mens Basketball:

1. Good young men with good character.

2. Actually be taught good fundamental defense.

Patrick O'Brien, All Charlotte Mech. QB at Mooresville  will be transfering to Charlotte in fall.Red-shirted at UNCP as grades hurt him getting into bigger schools.About 6ft4 210 4.7 40,big and fast.Would be at ECU if recruiter hadn't gotten fired. This kid is a major coup for The 49ers.Monster arm.Real tough player.

Between Johnson, Miller, and now O'Brien, we seem to be loading up on talent at the QB spot.  Welcome to Niner Nation, Patrick!

I still wouldn't be shocked to see us land a FBS level QB transfer or a JUCO QB so we have a starter with previous collegiate experience for our inaugural season.

Another defection from UNCP Josh Tann 6ft3in 240lbs redshirted at UNCP. The way I hear it many of the freshmen were the better players but were pretty much forced to sit. This kid is Real good and could have started at UNCP. I believe he has met with the Charlotte football staff.I think he played at Panther Creek HS.He is a defensive linemen/lb.

i am not sure our strategy to beat UNCP in 2013 can be effective on all teams.

Could these UNCP transfers possibly end up as preferred walkons?

The truth of the matter is the two transfers had more offers than most of the recruits that were signed in the initial class. With the exception of three or four players the Charlotte offer was the only one they got. Not trying to rain on the parade but Tann and O'Brien's grades are what kept them from better offers, not their ability.Ask players that played against them. They know who they are.I know the Richmond coaches visited O'Brien three times in the last week before signing day and really wanted him to prep but he chose to go to UNCP.Lincoln Riley said flat out that he was the best qb at their prospect camp in2011 and when the coordinator for the Charlotte area got fired he lost touch with the recruiting.Still offered PWO at ECU but turned it down.

Just noticed that Rick Legrant, LB from GA that we signed in our first class was a 3 star at ESPN:  http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/89197/rick-legrant

I was in Kroger's yesterday and strolled by the magazine rack.  I noticed the FNL North Carolina edition (Friday Night Lights) magazine.  It is totally dedicated to high school football and is a quality magazine.  It covers all North Carolina high school teams and is thorough as best I could tell. FNL has a Top 100 players now in their senior year among other feature articles.  I skimmed down the list and saw Chris Duffy at #34 and Tevin Lawshe at #41.  I think the Charlotte 49ers are making some waves in the recriting ocean while still a year away from our first kickoff.
