Football is such a crap shoot.. There are lots of 2 star guys that end up being big time players.

Great example of that would be Richard Sherman and Josh Norman. I looked at their recruit profiles and laughed. I try to judge prospects on who else has offered. Am I missing something or does there seem to be a lack of P5 offers with the guys we have committed? In recent years, there seemed to be more recruits we had committed/signed that had P5 offers(JBT, Halmon, Lyon, Kofa, Wynn, Ford, etc.)...

If the coaches like the guys they're getting, I'm okay with it.

If we're swinging and missing on our top prospects, then I would be concerned. I don't follow football recruiting closely enough though to know if the coaching staff is truly happy with how our class is shaping up.

Johnny Ray was a WFU commit.

Yes I know he was. One prospect with an offer from a bad P5 program.....that's it...plus all the guys I listed had multiple P5 offers from some pretty great football programs.

Those are 4 I found at 247 that had over some other good offers. If you are expecting us to go up and beat HM's all the time, you might want to readjust your expectations.

So wanting this class to match previous classes we have had is need for an "expectations readjustment?" It's not like I'm saying we need to be getting 4 star guys at this point in time. Hopefully these recruits will be great! Only time will tell...

Thank you.  That's what I was wanting to see.............. An overall summary of the class in general.  I'm glad to see we took another step upward.

You would need to average in unrated players for this to be accurate. Any word on that recruit we possibly got last night?

Three days from signing.  Hope we pull some surprises out of the hat and have a big time group.  Does anyone know what happen from the guy from Mooresville that decommitted from ECU?  I think he was a DT

Jamil Dukes, I know he had an offer from USC after he decommitted. Twitter tells me he was set to have a visit to Bama on Jan 22nd.

Most of those guys that have stars from early classes never played a down or lasted more than a season. Pretty sad. Would have helped.

Like who?  You telling me none of our last recruits that had stars stayed on the team?  Phillips, Duke?

when those guys committed, I think they had 0 stars and then we're given 2 after signing day. I remember app fans getting angry and accusing our rivals guy of manipulating the rankings because we went from a ton of players with 0 stars to everyone having at least 2.

Sorry, we were talking 247 on the class by class average so here goes:

2012:  http://charlotte.247sports.com/Season/2012-Football/Commits
While we managed to land 5 guys with a profile our first year.  Miller never played and Caldwell is now at Ole Miss after only 1 season of playing here.

2013:  http://charlotte.247sports.com/Season/2013-Football/Commits
22 guys with profiles (zachral listed 2x)
Mattox lasted a year, Duffy never made it, Winston will finally play this year, Crouser gone, Corpening never played, James Williams never made it here, Hunter and Crawford played a season as a 5th year.  Watkins go the boot after a redshirt season.  So only 13 of those 22 guys played more than a year.

I apologize for using the term "most" instead of "a healthy percentage"

Any idea on whom it may be?

https://twitter.com/rossmith/status/690174615616917504

@rossmith.@Charlotte49erFB had a top target on campus yesterday. Martial Washington, @_AllTimeHigh, Safety from Liberty HS in GA. (continue)

Washington recently recommitted from GA Southern. WFU offered in Dec, South Carolina offered in the Fall.

Darnit. Went unnoticed, but 247 sports reporting that he recommitted to Ga Southern on 1/27.  He looked like a potentially huge add to our secondary.

How many scholarships do we have that we haven't gave away yet? This is a strange one, so I'm assuming we are handing out a few we still had left over. Some 'what the heck, why not' offers.
