Awesome!  Like most restaurants/bars, alcohol is a big money maker.  Think this will also be a big helper in keeping ppl in the stadium and not leaving at half to go back to their tailgates for drinks etc.

*edit: hopefully they have majority local brews. Would also think it could be cool if the university teamed up with one of the local breweries...say for instance "OMB-Offical Brewery of the Charlotte 49ers".  Something like that.

BEER GARDEN, guys!

We need to get the word out to the general public that we will have a beer garden at our games.

Tons of potential with this.  Hopefully they do it right.

Charlotte agenda would be a great outlet as most of their readers are alcohol drinking milennials.

It would also be great if they used this as an opportunity to intertwine their Oktoberfest event with the game a bit more.

clt says the university is already a partner with the agenda. Should be an easy connect.

This in particular would be very cool. My older brother, a Niner alum, is one of two full time brewers at OM; basically he (along with the other full time brewer) has physically made every single drop of OMB beer.

Went to App State yesterday with a church member and was pleasantly surprised with the alumni tailgate in comparison to the Yosef Club lunch. They offered Sagebrush pasta that was cold, meatballs, and a roll. Had cookies but I got the last one an hour prior to kick with plenty still rolling in. Didn't have enough tables or chairs set up so we had to sit on the floor. We still have a way to go regarding game day atmosphere I left unimpressed as did the donor that provided the tickets.

clt says this is unpossible. Appy has the best of everything.

Judy provided some details of the beer garden on the pre-game radio show.  It will be roped off area with no tables, chairs, or cover. She said they didn't want people hanging around there the whole game.  It will be very similar to what EMU had.

She also mentioned that there are stadium expansion plans but we would not be expanding until 'the time was right.'  She took a tour of KSU and took a bunch of pictures of their facility.

I liked EMU's set-up with the beer. It's nothing fancy a couple of canopy tents in the end zone but that's all you need really. You could watch the game though from there's, hope you'll be able to do the same in ours.

Interesting she brought it up, but technically there have been 'plans' for expansion from day 1. There's no way we're expanding for another 4-5 years minimum. CHP told me 6 months ago, that expansion wasn't happening unless we get another enormous donation.

Judy went years w/o broaching expansion, she's now mentioned it twice recently.

yeah, tells me we probably will / have to expand before some of the bigger OOC games on the schedule occur. We would have needed expansion for the App game, but if this season goes like it looks like it will go, there will be plenty of seats for app fans next year.

Never underestimate a Charlotte crowd to turn out for an "event" game.  I suspect the App game will be pretty full with our fans in all the perm seating.  Students will turn out big for that.

As for expansion - I assume we will just install some temp bleachers - they have got to get capacity upwards between 20-25 at minimum.  Either that or we never host some of those games and the contracts get voided.
