Not official, but inching that way - FBSschedules.com is now listing us as playing Kentucky next year, with a date TBD. Its at the bottom of the schedule not in the week-by-week portion....

Nothing like using a 12 year old UK logo on the official press release.  A 5 second Google search led me to this:

It's not that hard sports information department.  It's not that hard.

I like the scheduling philosophy for us, H&H with the SBC amd AAC, money game at SEC Kentucky, and game versus FCS Presbyterian at home. I hope this is the norm for the first few years at least.

I like it too, and I personally think it's the best path we can take.

Why is the date subject to change ?

Please note that all dates are subject to change. Game times are yet to be determined.

Because all game contracts have by-out clauses.

"BY-out" clause?  Is that the same as a "BUY-out" clause?

Rather than busting others for a typo, thought answering a reasonable question might keep this on track

While a school can back out of a game as mentioned, the real reason is that games aren't necessarily played on Saturdays.  You may have noticed CUSA teams playing on "off nights".  As we all know, its all about the benjamin's

Typo?  Is that what it was?  Crap, I make those all the time myself, and I wasn't exactly "busting" anyone as you say.

BTW.......... Thanks for the verification that not all games are played on Saturdays and thanks for keeping this thread on track.  Perhaps you should post more than 30 times.  Yes, it is all about the Benjamin's.  If we ever have a week night televised game, my guess is that it will be one game we will not have to worry about students not showing up.

I look forward to our CUSA/FBS schedules.  I was never overly excited about the possibility of being stuck in FCS.

Too bad we couldn't be placed in CUSA West. As of 10/16 they are a combined 15-21. The East sits at 24-20. I imagine UAB will move to the west next season. Of course teams will be a little different next season but it gives a general picture that for now the East will be a little tougher side.

CUSA West has better attendance numbers, but I'd rather be in the east for both geography and for more competitive football.

It is a shame that ECU left. CUSA east with ECU and maybe not FIU, would be an extremely tough division (a stronger conference inside a weaker one).

If we still had ECU, CUSA would  be far and away the best G5 conference this season.

Thanks.  The cancellation has been discussed a few times on this board but I don't think we had seen any official notice.

It's cancelled.. The guarantee for a FCS team is much less than a FBS team. If we're going to travel to a top 50 FBS programs we should get paid appropriately.

I've never understood that. Wouldn't a school want to pay more to destroy an fcs school than to pay more for an FBS to maybe beat them?

VT was willing to pay this$$ amount when we were FCS. Now we're FBS we went back and said, you need to up it to this$$ amount. They said "no thanks, we can find another FCS school who'll play us for this$$ original amount."

I guess fcs teams are willing to get less example fcs coach: " oh you're thinking of paying Charlotte 750,000? We will play you for 500,000!"....but if I am an fcs coach I'd use they leverage that hey you can play that fbs school for 700K and maybe you win or maybe you don't. Or you could play us for 800K and guarantee yourself a win. That'll come in handy if you end up 6-6

Also they can only schedule (1) FCS team a year, and have to fill the rest of the non-conference slots with FBS teams. That gets supply and demand going in favor of the FBS teams taking money games.
