We got a nice transfer from ECU coming to Charlotte. Jackson Mims started 26 games at 3B for ECU last year, and he currently plays for the Gastonia Grizzlies. 5th in the CPL in batting with a .367 average. He will sit next year.

Another note: Brett Netzer won the Cal Ripken League batting title with a .349 average this year.

Mims hit .280 for them last year, judging his Fielding %, he seems a little error prone. hopefully a year off can allow him to strengthen that part of his game and to bulk up some, nothing but singles last year.

CPL Playoffs start tonight. Gastonia Grizzlies are hosting. 49er Brandon Casas, transfer from Maryland who sat last year, will get the Game 1 start on the mound. Alex Reynolds and Jackson Mims (transfer from ECU) also start in the field for the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies are in the CPL finals. All 3 Niners on the team have been solid in the playoffs. Casas has been 2-0 on the mound including a victory in the deciding game of the Semifinals.  Mims and Reynolds have been sold offensively.

Game 1 is tonight in Gastonia.

Great news. Does Reynolds have to sit out this year? I know Mims does.

Nope. Reynolds played some for us last year as a Freshman. Id like to see his bat in the line-up a little more next season.

OK, I guess I had forgotten him.

clt provides a story about a future 49er: http://www.huntersvilleherald.com/news/2015/8/13/13630/rewriting-history

Thanks for sharing clt!

I'm excited to see where Ober and Reece Hampton jump into our line-up next year.  I think they add some much needed speed/ base stealing.

We missed out on pounding some Zimas with clt before the game uptown.

Looks like country music star Jason Aldean stopped by campus for a little workout before his concert last week.  Pretty cool.
