Halton Practice Gym?? Are they referring to The Charles Hayward Memorial Practice Court??

Yes.  However, because we fail miserably to indoctrinate our students, even the interested ones, in the history of our school and athletic successes/historical figures, beginning with zero fucks given at SOAR, (unfortunately) very few on our campus know who Charles Hayward was, nor would most know where said Court named after a very important and inspirational figure in our athletic history is located.

Hayward was an athlete?  I just assumed he was a relation in the Halton, Belk, Cannon or Hayes family.  Most building names seem to evolve from those families, so I just stuck with the trend.

Not from the greatest era of UT football but this guy brings a lot of experience and I don't remember any negatives when he was on staff. I like this hire.

Yes, he was the highest rated recruit we had ever landed at that point (in the 40's nationally I think). He was diagnosed with leukemia, I think his freshman year. It went into remission and he returned to the court. Sadly, the leukemia returned and he ultimately passed away. The practice court was named in his honor.

I like this hire as well. This was our best recruiting class from top to bottom but it appears from the posts here that we need to shore up some of our local recruiting relationships. Henry has the resume to do exactly that.

clt says we are pulling a harbaugh. A qualified coach that just so happens to have a highly rated football player son.

clt says at CHeat, they hire your mom for a made up position at the school.

Don't get too excited, or feel too guilty yet. I'm not feeling the kid will come here, regardless of his dad on the staff now. Hope, I'm wrong.

I agree, I think that they saw that problem and have fixed it with this Henry hire. Excited!

KJ has a chance to go to a school that may play for a National Championship, so I don't see him coming here.
Hey 49er undergrads, you are bigger than UNC-CH.  Start acting like it!

Are you saying he may go to UNC-Tweetsie?
