For those of you that didn't get the email. Black, Red, and Silver lots have all moved to new locations. Teal Deck, AKA North Deck beside the new Black Lot (former Silver Lot) has been added as well.

Dang, I hate there is no general parking area adjacent to The Black Lot. I might have to go Blue Lot for this reason.

Looks like students get 50 spaces in the Black Lot and 50 spaces in the Red Lots.

AHHA! Then the question becomes WHICH Blue Lot? The smaller Memorial Hall lot or the larger one beside Cone and West Deck! Decisions! Decisions!

Not to my knowledge, that place was a huge success, just not everyone who tailgated there made it to the game lol

I received an email yesterday indicating, in detail, the parking options for season ticket holders for the upcoming season.  Unless I am missing something or reading the email wrong, it appears that the huge surface parking lot located by the light rail station WILL NOT be available for any sort of tailgating this upcoming season?

Is this correct? If yes, why? This is basically a travesty.  They are limiting all tailgating to parking decks where you can't even light up a grill OR to the surface parking lot over by Fretwell and introducing a shuttle service.  What.  The.  Heck.

Are you talking about the new Black Lot above? It's open to FSL owners but not to season ticket holders.

Without seeing said email, there's no way to know if you are reading it wrong. I seriously doubt the new Black Lot is a no tailgate zone though.

Top deck of all the parking decks allow grills now, implemented last season.

I don't see the issue with Fretwell lot + shuttle.

Lot of programs you need to walk a decent ways or take a shuttle to get to the game, its not out of the ordinary. Hopefully it can develop a nice little vibe.

You mean those who don't even bother to come to the games? Or if they do, leave early?

When you only have a 15,000 seat stadium you shouldn't need a shuttle and you shouldn't have majority of parking in decks. I think the lack of tailgating lots near the stadium is another let down of this athletic department!

What's your solution, Mr. Mojo?

This is pretty standard at most larger universities since they are having to use the land for classrooms.  The only way this does not happen is if you build the stadium off campus like at NCSU.  I went to a high school championship game at Chapel Hill and had to part in a deck with only 15k at the game.

clt says the solution is simple. Pave over that damn creek and put in a tailgate lot.

The Athletic Dept doesn't build parking lots, or even make decisions on where they go.  Decks cost 10 times what a surface lot does per space, but we build them to conserve land and keep the campus pedestrian friendly.  Football really doesn't play any factor in what they do.
