When you only have a 15,000 seat stadium you shouldn't need a shuttle and you shouldn't have majority of parking in decks. I think the lack of tailgating lots near the stadium is another let down of this athletic department!

What's your solution, Mr. Mojo?

With where the stadium is built and the growth of the university I am not sure. Tailgating is a huge part of the college football experience and it works best with lots close to the stadium. Now at Clemson and other Schools with large stadiums there will be very long walks and some shuttles, but there are also tons of people tailgating in lots near the stadium. I really don't think the  tailgating  atmosphere was thought about when building our stadium. But like Nugget said it's not the Athletic Department's decision on where to build.

clt says we can tailgate at the speedway and then shuttle over. Plenty of surface lots there. Or at blockbusters pavillion.

Our tailgating issue isn't with spaces or lots, it is with the AD policy to break up lots by donor levels.  What this means is lots close to the stadium being empty while shuttling people from outer lots.  I get both sides of the coin on this.  On one side you want to reward your higher donors and on the other side you want to create a good tailgate culture.  Rock and hard place here.  I think they should fill lots like that do halton.  Let people rank lot preference then place people by priority point.  Encourages people to donate more and fills up all the lots.

clt says that makes a lot of sense.

I'm tired of donating more. Especially for the product we're getting in return.

if they level out more land behind the practice football fields they could put large grass parking lots for everyone

Stop trying to use logic.  That would solve too many issues.

That land is probably not flat and will require a lot of grading.

I'm sure Phil and Judy own shovels and rakes.  It will give them something to do in their spare time.

What are we going to do for parking after the stadium is expanded?

Speaking of logic.

It's a logistical challenge that will need to be addressed, so we might as well do what we do best on this board......... Solve the issue in advance so that Phil and Judy won't have to.

I suspect their plan is to tell people to take the light rail to campus.  We're not going to build more surface lots or clear trees for parking.

Yep. Parking is paid for by parking permit fees. The state doesn't just give you parking lot money, so we cannot build lots that only serve football. Well, I guess we could if the AD payed for it, but that is unlikely.
Hey 49er undergrads, you are bigger than UNC-CH.  Start acting like it!
