I didn't remember Martin Iti was the greatest Center in the history of basketball until I watched that video.

Would happily take an Iti clone, missed dunks and all. His problem was his handler, and maybe "slightly" overstated height.

Chris Beard's stay in Little Rock a short one as he leaves for UNLV after a one year stint at UALR (30-5, Sun Belt title, and first round win over Purdue).  And former Arizona State and NC State coach Herb Sendek takes over at Santa Clara, which hasn't been to the Big Dance since some guy named Steve Nash played there.

Just slightly - 6' 8 1/2" without shoes, 6' 9 3/4" with shoes per NBA pre-draft measurements!  ::)

The Fighting Banana Slugs!  And you think it is hard to get students to wear 49er gear.

You're thinking of Santa Cruz. Santa Clara is the Broncos.

Ito was not a good offensive players, but he played good defense, defended the rim, changed shots,  boxed out and allowed other players to get rebounds he didn't get.

I'm hoping that this is what Bergang and Benas can turn into Iti.  Sometime, being 6'11" is all the defense you need.

Dammit!  I guess they probably have a Name Confusion Log thread on their message board too.  Sorry Broncos.

From what I've read, Ford and Leon Rice of Boise State were interviewed for the vacant Saint Louis position.  In addition, looks like Kevin Stallings was contacted prior to taking the Pitt job, as well as Bryce Drew of Valpo.  Anyway, looks like St. Louis Post-Dispatch standing by its report that Ford is the new Saint Louis coach, though the university has denied anyone has been hired yet.  Hmm...

And in other Catholic school news, San Francisco has hired Kyle Smith, who just led Columbia to the CollegeInsiders.com Tourney title.

Here's the latest...

UAB tabs interim Robert Ehsan to be next head basketball coach.  Served as associate head coach under Haase.

Valpo's Bryce Drew will take over at Vandy.

And Ray McCallum out at Detroit Mercy.

That stinks, I was hopeful they would actually make a good hire.

Their fans must be livid. Pastner is awful, no better than Gregory, IMO. I bet Memphis fans are glad to be done with him and his astronomical and completely unjustified contract.

Tubby Smith leaves Texas Tech for Memphis.  And in something of a stunner, he will be replaced at TTU by Chris Beard, who had just recently left Little Rock to take over at UNLV!

Beard sounds like a real whore. I'd hate to play for that guy or have him coaching any team I support.

UNLV hires Marvin Menzies of New Mexico State as their new coach. And FWIW, Chris Beard had to pay a $1 million buyout with Runnin' Rebs to "return home" to TTU.
