Still the smallest FBS stadium.

Liberty could even pay Charlotte to do it. And if Liberty is really desperate for a 2019 opponent maybe the school could get Liberty to buy out the gardner webb game for us and have them as an opening opponent.

At the press conference they announced they are expanding their stadium to 35,000. I'd love to play them, only a 3.5 hour drive.

They have a beautiful stadium and campus. Would love to make the drive up there if we ever got to play them.

Drive through Lynchburg regularly. Not a bad drive. But not a fan of this so-called "university".

Tailgating at their stadium would be lame.  Same problem when we played at Charleston Southern.

clt says they are dumb to do this. So arrogant to jump to fbs. Who do they think they are?

Guess they'll have to rely on on-field performance, marketing, and cultivating a fan base to sell tickets then.

How stupid is that.  And their stadium is already 4,000 seats larger than ours and they are going to expand it even more?  Are they crazy?  CHP and WBBJ need to go up there and straighten them out.  I'm sure this move is nothing but a FANTASY.

Correct, and I can't imagine what it would be like to watch 49er sports without alcohol.

Found two bars within .5 miles of the University, we'll be fine  :)

My family drove up to DC via Lynchburg the Sunday before Election Day in 2008. We ate brunch at Chili's or Friday's across from the campus and Thomas Road Baptist Church. They started serving alcohol to many people dressed in church clothes at noon.

Liberty has a large skating/hockey rink.

Maybe I missed it, but I thought there was a rule that you had to have a conference invite to move up?

probably claimed they were being discriminated against because of their religious beliefs. Doubt NCAA wanted to take that fight to court.

Per the release:

The NCAA waiver approval was based upon Liberty providing substantial information demonstrating its readiness to begin the reclassification process, Liberty’s ability to follow current FBS institutions who have demonstrated viability without a conference affiliation and the university’s ability to satisfy FBS requirements.

So basically they got a waiver by doing their homework.

It's an hour (at most) from me.

Let's make it happen.

Does Liberty have their own TV network like BYU? Also, by being independent they could sell their own TV rights.
