Selfishly, I was glad to see that Cammarata didn't get drafted.

It looks like both Nichting and Jarrett will be playing with Cal Ripken Jr's son on the Aberdeen IronBirds.  Their season opens tonight.

Any news on whether Colton has signed or not yet?

Not a surprise, but it looks like Esplin will sign with the Red Sox.

Quote
Esplin spent his freshman and sophomore years at Lake Forest Academy. He played his junior and senior years at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

"My family had to make sacrifices, sending me to IMG was a huge sacrifice for them," Esplin said. "And it's all worth it now."

Esplin had a .432 batting average as a senior playing for former Cincinnati Reds third baseman Chris Sabo.

"It was the best baseball decision I've ever made," Esplin said. "It's a whole different competition level down there. Coach Sabo was one of my favorite coaches that I've had so far."

Esplin, who had committed to Charlotte, plans on going to Boston's minor league camp in Fort Myers, Fla., on Sunday.

"I'm very excited for this," Esplin said. "It was a tough decision to walk away from UNC-Charlotte. But at the end of the day, my goal was to eventually get drafted, whether it was after college or out of high school."

It sucks but its something we have to start dealing with.

This is the 3rd year in a row we've lost a recruit to the draft (Jordan, Featherstone, Esplin).  First time since 2014 we lost an underclassman to the draft (Butler).  The last time we lost multiple underclassmen was in 2013 with Seager and Barnette both left early.

It's a good problem to have.

Colton Laws has been assigned to the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League (Rookie ball).  They play in Burlington in early July.
