Thanks Jim. Should it be but not before giving Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz a commitment? Noticed the college basketball story Sunday had no mention of Charlotte.

Glad to get the early commitment. He sounds like a really good player with good size and length at the 1 or 2. Gives us 4 talented, athletic guards who can shoot in 2010: Briscoe (Soph), Bowden (Soph), Green (Jr), Guyn (Fr).

Whoops, my mistake. I thought it said Scout rating, but it's actually just ESPN's "Scouts rating."

Is this Kummer's biggest recruit? I wonder if we would have gotten him had Kummer taken that other job.

ESPN uses Scouts Inc information for all their recruiting (football and basketball). This isn't the same as the scout network though (charlotte.scout.com).

And ESPN is providing a grade, not a rank, in these cases. It gives a range of what they think the player can acheive based on the grade. Gives a little more flexibility than a firm ranking but I don't know how reliable they are.

FWIW, I like the grading system Scouts Inc does (especially for football). ESPN's recruit rankings have gotten a lot better.

From what I've seen:

The elite prospects are usually 93 and up (top 50), high level 90-93, mid-level 85-90. 40 as said before is no evaluation.

Jesus. This is like explaining the simple D1-to-D1 transfer rule all over again.

There is a difference between a ranking and a rating. An 89 or 90 rating is out of 100. Many different players could be rated the same number. A ranking goes to one player and one player alone. There is only one 143rd ranked player.

People see his 90 rating think he's the 90th ranked player in his class. Not true. Nowhere is he ranked in the top 100.

I'm sure I'll have to repost this same post a dozen more times throughout this thread. :lol: :tongue:
