And I'm still working,

in the schedule thread its noted that Darin Sprease tweeted that another home game was likely to be scheduled.

And from Andy Katz's blog:
Quote
Even before that slate against three likely NCAA tourney teams, the Hoyas play in the Charleston Classic in South Carolina. The field isn't that deep (NC State, Coastal Carolina, Wofford, Charlotte, George Mason, East Carolina, USC Upstate). But that doesn't matter as long as Georgetown gets a final against the Wolfpack, a top-five contender in the ACC. The season starts with the Hoyas going to Old Dominion, which has knocked them off in two of the past three meetings. They also get the unenviable task of facing Memphis at the FedEx Forum on Dec. 23. The Tigers are the C-USA favorite and a consensus top-15 team.

So, looking at the 8th team, and what we know about our matchup, I'm guessing the first round will look like this

1 Georgetown vs. 8 USC Upstate
4 Wofford vs. 5 Coastal Carolina
3 Charlotte vs. 6 George Mason
2 NC State vs. 7 East Carolina

If ECU is in this position relative to us, it is really important we beat George Mason, because we don't want to give them game tape and home-court advantage when we play them December 1st.

Are you using last years RPI for the seeding or something?

So, looking at the 8th team, and what we know about our matchup, I'm guessing the first round will look like this

1 Georgetown vs. 8 USC Upstate
4 Wofford vs. 5 Coastal Carolina
3 Charlotte vs. 6 George Mason
2 NC State vs. 7 East Carolina

Now I'm really curious about how the bracket looks.  We know Charlotte vs. George Mason. We can probably assume that Georgetown is a #1 seed. And NC State & Charlotte are on the same side of the bracket. So this looks good so far:

1 Georgetown vs. 8 ________
4 ________ vs. 5 __________
3 Charlotte vs. 6 George Mason
2 NC State vs. 7 __________

But if the blanks are USC Upstate, Wofford, CCU, and ECU - then I wonder if we got screwed in the seeding by getting a George Mason in the first round.  It's hard to believe that George Mason couldn't even get a 4 or a 5 seed over that group of teams.

When is this bracket going to come out... all the others have been out for weeks.... we are in the short bus tournament.

I expect regional teams from the Big South, Atlantic Sun, MEAC and possible the Sun Belt to fill out the tournament.  The downside is that the field will only have 2 BCS schools(Georgetown and NC State) but the upside is that these late openings will likely be lower seeded teams that help our chances of getting to see the 2 BCS teams.

Coastal Carolina and USC Upstate

So, looking at the 8th team, and what we know about our matchup, I'm guessing the first round will look like this

1 Georgetown vs. 8 USC Upstate
4 Wofford vs. 5 Coastal Carolina
3 Charlotte vs. 6 George Mason
2 NC State vs. 7 East Carolina

Tipped by The Mason Bench that East Carolina's schedule was released today with a match-up with NC State listed, and Charlotte or George Mason for Round 2.  USC Upstate's RPI was over 300 while Wofford and Coastal Carolina both won the regular season in their conferences.  I bet on Georgetown getting the Round 1 softy.

Patriots get a nod in ESPN's Summer Shootaround series as one of the "Teams to watch":
Quote
George Mason: The Patriots aren't ready to make another run to the Final Four but should be poised for a return to the NCAA tournament. The team went on a summer trip to Italy and is well-prepped for a solid surge in the CAA. Mason is in the Charleston Classic in November and could pose a problem for headliners NC State and Georgetown.
