I would like to posit a guess.

I see our first opponent being D2.

This.  And it needs to be a winnable game.  8)

Elon is FCS. I doubt we'll play them honestly. We'll either play a DII school to (likely) ensure a win or play a bcs opponent to ensure a big pay day.

My guess is Davidson. Rivalry and a very winnable game.

Isn't the Davidson Football coach a Charlotte alum?

Not Elon.  They'd kill us.  ODU started against Chowan.  GSU will start against Shorter. I'm calling a 27-17 win against the braves of UNCP.

Dude, Elon is an above average FCS program......I think your "knowledge" of low tier teams is a little lacking.  ;D

Catawba is not a bad D2 school at all either. Constantly winning 8+ games a year

By lower tier, I meant not FBS or whatever.  Wasn't referring to if the team was good in their division or not.  I really don't follow a lot of college football in the lower tiers.  I'm thinking Charlotte 49er Football will change all this.

Side note:  I think college football needs more games, maybe like 15.  NFL and college basketball needs to be 9 months of the year with both not over at the same time. These past 6 months have been awful.

A few years ago many college Presidents moaned and whaled when they added the 12th game. No way in hell they go past 12 regular season games without BILLIONS more in revenue. Same goes for basketball. Every time a player plays he risks injury. No ones but the fans win if they add more games and when was the last time the fans won anything?

Screw that! I want the Davidson Goose Kickers!!!!

They're non-scholarship FCS football. Better than whipping a NAIA team and we could beat them with a squad of scholarship freshmen.

I don't know anything about Davidson football, could we really beat them our first game?  Cuz I don't wanna get waxed 80-0 by Davidson. That would NOT be good for my self esteem.

FCS virtually has two levels like FBS (BCS/non-BCS) and that's scholarship/non-scholarship. Davidson plays football in the Pioneer League (because the SoCon scholarship teams like App would put up 80 on them). It's not a "sure thing" but scholarship Freshmen in general are better players than your average non-scholarship Senior.

Davidson in the first year, yes please.  Davidson in the first game, no thanks.

I watched Davidson vs. UNCP 2 years ago.  They aren't good.  It was the slowest bunch of football I have ever seen.  BUT, they were well coached.  They didn't make a lot of mistakes.

Even though we are a start up program, we essentially need to "buy" a win for the first game or two.  Get the kinks out.  Let our players hit someone that isn't a teammate for the first time in 2 years.
