May, 2010: Tuoyo's game is all about controlling the paint with his shot blocking and rebounding skills; he reminds me of a Jarvis Vanardo-type that can impact a game without scoring a point. He is still raw offensively and needs to develop his frame, but his athleticism and work ethic should help him overcome those deficits. January, 2010: Justin is a defensive specialist who rebounds and blocks shots at a high rate. On Saturday (at the 2010 Hoops in Overdrive) Justin finished with 10 rebounds and 12 blocks on the day. Any shot around the rim or in the paint is in jeopardy to get swatted away by the young sophomore. His length and timing are exceptional. He does a good job of coming from help to block shots, but it is his ability to block shots on the ball that set him apart. Don't mistake him for a stiff though; he has very good feet and lateral movement. Offensively, Justin can make the 15' jump shot with consistency, and scores in the post with face-up jump shots and left shoulder jump hooks. Keep your eyes on this young guy over the next several years.NotesTravel Team: Southern Kings Gold...
Justin Tuoyo, C/PF, Lovejoy- It's a shame that high school refs don't often let young big guys grind it out or play with aggression on the glass. Because of some ticky-tack fouls, the 6-foot-8 center never really got going. Still, it's easy to see that he's a high level rebounder and a shot rejector who is happy to board and play defense and get his offense where he can. Tuoyo listed offers from Virginia Tech, VCU, Alabama, Georgia and Virginia.
2012 Justin Tuoyo of Lovejoy HS (Ga) says VCU, VT and Cincinnati are top 3. Has spken w/South Florida and Central Florida recently.
Clearly Smart lacks the ability to manager personalities.
