Matt Carrick - 6'2 260lbs offensive lineman from Ardrey Kell HS (NC).

Per the Charlotte Observer:
Quote
Carrick is a 6-foot-2, 260-pound offensive lineman at Ardrey Kell High who will be a senior next season. An FCS prospect according to his coach, Carrick is looking for a place to play football in college."I'm trying to find for something close to home," said Carrick. "Playing (at Charlotte) would be ideal. I've heard a lot of good things about the school."

Wes Fields - LB at Mallard Creek, planning to walk on in 2012.  Fields probably projects as a DB at the FCS level.

Per the Charlotte Observer:
Quote
Wes Fields, a linebacker at Mallard Creek who will graduate in a few weeks, plans to attend Charlotte in the fall and walk on the football team in 2012."He's a perfect example of a kid for whom the recruiting thing maybe didn't work out," said Mallard Creek coach Mike Palmieri. "Charlotte has opened up a second chance for him."

8/20/10 Mallard Creek Mavericks (20) Takhare Donalson breaks up a pass meant for Independence Patriots (11) wide receiver Dequan Barnes as Mavericks teammate (3) Wesley Field assists on the play during first quarter action Friday at Independence High School. Nice.
"The 49ers did it. They said they would start a football program and they did. People said they couldn’t; lots of them, mostly outsiders. The 49ers ignored them. This – the first spring game in the history of the school – proves it."

Randleman High School product.  I know that we've contacted him in the last few days, so we'll see how it plays out.  There is definitely some preliminary interest, though!

Davidson plans to visit 10 camps this summer. Seven of those - North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke, East Carolina, Elon and Charlotte - are in the Tar Heel State. Davidson said he expects a scholarship offer from Charlotte soon.

Your typical FCS programs do not go after high schoolers with BCS offers, right?

I'm not complaining, mostly just curious about the short term future goals of our program.

Just because he goes to those camps doesn't mean he's being recruited by them.  They go there for exposure.

If Lambert has set up an official Charlotte 49ers Football Camp for this year I'd be super impressed. He'll probably use the third part HS Summer Camp already scheduled in July as an unofficial camp and be on hand to evaluate talent (or one of the other coaches). I can find nothing online about an official Charlotte 49ers Football Camp so............

http://www.o-d.com/camps/locations/Charlotte

Official UNC Charlotte ran 2011 Summer camps, but it was released before Football was official (12/28/09) so.......
