thats not what im saying at all. im excited about him. i was saying that i would rather have him than a scrub big man just to fill a roster spot.

The first team preseason A10 center is listed at 6'9". Height is overrated, Major is going after guys who can play, you don't have to have multiple "true centers" to win in the A10. I'll gladly take any player making such a big impact at Oak Hill. Hopefully the visit goes well and we get a signature while he is here.

Can't wait to land this guy! I love that Major is bringing in some BIG kids. You can do a lot of damage in CBB if you have a team of 6'6-6'8 athletic monsters on your team!

imho...major focuses on exactly what a kid does at the 'splendid' level (in addition, of course, to size, athleticism, length, etc). he's much less interested, again imho, in whether he's a 2, 3, 5 or 12! i thought his remarks the other night at the wild wing were very interesting when he talked about wanting his players to enter a game knowing exactly what their role is...the 3 things they are to focus on. in this system, two "PFs" might have very different roles.

I was excited about the 2007 class. It'd be dishonest to let how they turned out how influenced how you originally felt about them. Might be what he's getting at.

For those unaware, if Clark does not sign this weekend, do not be discouraged. He is not allowed to sign in the presence of coaches, so he will have to wait until he goes back to GA. Don't expect anything until Monday at the earliest.

The C position in general is vastly overrated in college. How many teams have good centers in the first place?

It seems to me that we will be playing a sort of 3 wings, 2 post type style. If you notice a lot of the most successful non-BCS teams succeed by having under-sized, yet stronger, athletic bigs and long athletes on the wing. It seems that we are recruiting to fit that mold.

Darion Clark (Conyers, Ga./Oak Hill Academy) ended his recruitment on Sunday with a pledge to UNC - Charlotte. Clark chose the 49ers over Rhode Island, UNC-Asheville and Florida Gulf Coast.

"Darion is a strong, physical power forward that can finish through contact and rebound on both ends," offered ESPN's Reggie Rankin. "(Head coach) Alan Major continues to add quality pieces to the Charlotte program."

Good catch Craig.... he's listed as 6'8 here... listed as 6'5 on Scout.. who knows how tall this guy is, but he looks like a beast!
